Margaret E. Cooper Scholarship for Library Pages
Awarded by Friends of the Batavia Public Library

Introduction
The Margaret E. Cooper Scholarship for Library Pages is named in honor of Library Director Margo Cooper who served the Library for 20 years and oversaw computerization, collection expansion, and construction of the new facility at 10 South Batavia Avenue.

Amount of Scholarship
Up to four scholarships shall be awarded with a value of $300 to $500 each. Recipients of the scholarship will receive an award check made payable to their school. The school may be a college, university, community college, trade or vocational school, or professional school.

Qualifications
Applications are available from the page’s supervisor at Batavia Public Library.
The recipients will be high school or home schooled seniors who are employed by the Batavia Public Library. The completed scholarship application and essay must be returned to the Circulation Services Coordinator by the last Friday in March.

Scholarship Requirements

  1. The applicant must be a graduating senior who resides in the Batavia Public Library District and plans to continue his or her education.
  2. The applicant must be a current page at the Batavia Public Library.
  3. Applicants must submit an essay that accompanies their application. Instructions for the essay can be found on the application form. Application materials will not be returned to the applicant.
  4. Grade point average may be considered, but it will not be a primary factor.
  5. Awards will not be based on financial need.
  6. The selection committee for the scholarship shall consist of the vice president of the Friends, another Board member of the Friends, and a supervisor of Batavia Public Library.
  7. The Friends of the Batavia Public Library reserve the right to amend or terminate the scholarship program at any time. The scholarships may be withheld or suspended in any one or more years at the Friends’ discretion. All decisions in regards to this scholarship will be final.
