Reference Librarian (Adult Services)

 

Part-Time -- 20-hours per week

 

This position provides reference and readers' advisory services; assists patrons in the use of the Internet, eMedia, and the online catalog. This librarian will also teaches computer classes.

 

Hours:  Tuesday - 5:00pm-9:00pm

           Thursday - 8:45am-1:00pm

           Friday - 8:45am-5:00pm

           2 weekends per month

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:  The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a library of any type; will be a team-player who works well with all levels throughout the organization. Must possess excellent communication skills (both oral and written), strong computer skills, and outstanding readers' advisory skills.

 

Preferred: A minimum of 2 years experience in reference and adult services in a public library is preferred.

 

Desired: It would be great if the successful candidate was fun-loving, good-humored, tactful, and resourceful.

 

Compensation: From $20.87 per hour. This position is eligible for IMRF benefits.
