Summer Internship (unpaid)

 

DATES OF INTERNSHIP

May - August.

We are looking for a minimum commitment of 6 to 8 weeks working 8 to 12 hours per week. A schedule will be determined based on Youth Services Deparment programming and staffing needs.

 

OBJECTIVE

To provide future Youth Services librarians with experience in programming and working with children from birth to 8th grade. Intern will assist experienced Youth Services staff with programming, public service and Summer Reading Club.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Recent MLIS graduate or currently enrolled in an MLIS program. Must have a valid Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Experience with children and technology preferred. 

 

SAMPLE OF DUTIES

  1. Assist staff with Summer Reading Club: Encourage participation, regester patrons, and distribute prizes.
  2. Assist staff in planning and implementing Youth Services programs.
  3. Assist staff wiith Summer Reading Club outreach.
  4. Assist staff with supervising junior volunteers.
