Winter Reading Club
February 1–28
Families are invited to join the Library’s Winter Reading Club, Polar–Palooza! Participating families (at least one adult and one child) complete tasks from the log and earn rewards, such as entries into a drawing for a U.S. savings bond, family name on a bookplate in a new book for the YS collection, a Polar–Palooza patch and more. WRC is sponsored by the Friends of the Batavia Public Library.
Igloo Search

Track down fun arctic facts posted on igloos around the Youth Services department. If you are participating in Winter Reading Club, this activity completes one task on your log. Stop by the Youth Services Desk to pick up an Igloo Search page and begin the hunt!

Ages 4–14The 2010 Winter Olympics have begun. Join us for our own Batavia Library version of these winter games. Participants may compete in any of these events: Bookcart Bobsled, Book Slide Curling, Book Skating, and Box a Book Slalom.
Collect your scores and have a chance to win a prize and title of “Library Olympian.” Register in person on the day of the games.
Bubble Wonders

Have you ever seen a square bubble? How about bubble caterpillars, bubbles inside bubbles or smoke-filled bubbles? Bubble Artist Geoffrey Akins will demonstrate almost anything is possible when it comes to bubbles. The whole family will be entertained and amazed by Akins’ bubble creations and at the same time learn about the art and science of bubble making. Seating for this event is on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors to the meeting room open fifteen minutes before the performance begins. No registration required.
