Checkout Guidelines

• Patrons can check out using their library card, or by downloading our SWAN Libraries App to digitally scan your library card.
• Eligible items will automatically renew two days before the due date unless another patron has the item on hold, the item has already been renewed 5 times, or your account is blocked.
• Click on Sign In at the top of any page on this site to access your account.
• You can use your Batavia Public Library card at other SWAN libraries. No registration is required!
• You can also use your Batavia Public Library card at any Illinois library that participates in reciprocal borrowing. Registration is required.
• The replacement fee for a lost or damaged item is the purchase price of the item.

Suspend your holds

If you have requested an item, but you want to delay its pick-up date, you can suspend the hold on that item until the date you are ready for it, keeping your place in line. 

About Fine Free

• The Library is fine free to remove barriers to service. We want individuals to be excited about coming to the Library, rather than worried about whether they owe a fine. We welcome any patrons who were worried about coming to the Library because of an overdue fine.
• The Batavia Public Library no longer charges fines for most items. Some Library of Things items will continue to accrue late fees.
• Accounts will be blocked if the account totals $10 or more in fees for overdue Library of Things, damaged, or lost items.
• An item will be billed as lost if it is not returned within 42 days of the due date. To reinstate the account, simply return the item or pay the charges for the lost item.
