To apply for a Batavia Public Library card, you will need to provide a photo ID and one piece of identification that verifies your residency. The following documents containing your name and address will be accepted as proof of residency:
- Current utility bill
- Current real estate tax bill
- Rental agreement or lease
- Current bank statement
- Current credit card bill
Applicants under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign the application and provide proof of residency.
Individuals who own property but do not reside within the Batavia Public Library District may apply for a Non-Resident Property Owner card with a photo ID and current property tax bill. Non-resident property owner cards are issued for one year. Applications are available at the Check Out Desk.
Individuals residing outside the Batavia Public Library District and not within the boundaries of any public library district may obtain a Non-Resident Fee Card for a determined fee. These cards are issued for one year. For more information, or to fill out an application, visit the Check Out Desk.
Please note: Not all Batavia addresses are within the Batavia Public Library District. There are three ways to determine within which library district you reside:
- Your real estate tax bill lists which library your taxes support.
- The back of your Voter’s Registration card lists your Library District.
- Inquire by calling the Batavia Public Library Circulation Services department, (630) 879-1393 ext. 100.
Corporate Library Cards
Corporate cards are available to businesses, institutions, churches, and similar organizations located within the boundaries of the Batavia Public Library District. Only one card will be issued per organization to the owner, manager, or principal administrator, who then is solely responsible for governing its use within the organization and for any fees that may be incurred. These cards must be renewed annually. Nonprofit organizations must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations. Call us to inquire about details for getting a corporate card.
Renewing or Replacing Your Card
- Resident library cards do not typically expire unless the individual has moved outside of the Batavia Public Library district or if the account has been inactive for five years
- Residents who have turned 16 are encouraged to sign for an adult card.
- Property owners may renew their library card with a photo ID and current property tax bill.
- Non-Residents may renew their card for a determined fee.
- For your protection, please report a lost of stolen card to the Library immediately. Please bring your photo ID to the Library to obtain a replacement card.
