About Youth Services
The Youth Services Department is located on the lower level of the library and serves children ages birth – 8th grade, as well as parents, caregivers and educators. Our light-filled space provides an opportunity to gather, create, play and grow. We offer a variety of resources and programs to help spark imagination and provide the basis for a lifelong love of reading and learning.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Put your child on the path to success by signing them up for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge. Reading aloud to your child helps them develop essential pre-reading skills and helps raise a lifelong reader. The program is open to any child from birth – age 5 with a Batavia Library card or who resides within our library district.
Born to Read
The Born to Read program is designed to start families on the path to success by providing a free bag of materials containing early literacy information and board books in English or Spanish. This program is open to families with a baby birth–12 months of age who reside in the Batavia Public Library District, Batavia School District 101 or the city of Batavia. To learn more and register, please stop by the Youth Services Desk.
