Home Delivery

Home delivery service is available to Batavia Public Library patrons who are unable to visit the Library for health or vision reasons. This service includes free delivery of Library materials, including books, large print books, audiobooks on CD, DVDs, videos, CDs, and magazines.

Equipment for Use in the Library

  1. A Kensington Orbit Trackball offers advanced ergonomics, with less wrist and hand movement that will ease the pain of repetitive-stress injuries.
  2. A large type high-contrast keyboard for use with computers and catalog stations is available upon request at the Adult & Teen Services Desk.
  3. An Optelec print magnifier is available for use at the Library. This easy-to-use machine allows you to magnify print.
  4. The Library offers a motorized scooter and a wheelchair for use by mobility-impaired Library patrons. Please ask at the Check Out Desk for the key. The scooter was acquired through a grant from the Friends of the Batavia Public Library.
  5. Basket carts are available for use inside the Library. Use them to hold bulky or heavy items while you are browsing. They can be found near the Check Out Desk.

The Illinois Talking Book Outreach Center

The Illinois Talking Book Outreach Center provides free library service to people unable to read or use conventional print material due to a visual or physical disability. This service provides books on talking book audio tapes and the playback equipment required to listen to them.

Large Print Collection

The Library’s large print collection contains several thousand books, including fiction, nonfiction, and biographies.The large print collection is located near the front of the Library, in front of the nonfiction collection.

Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter Use

As a service and convenience to visitors, the Library provides Wheelchair(s) and Mobility Scooter(s) to visitors with limited mobility for use in the Library. In consideration for being permitted to use, and by using, Wheelchair sand Mobility Scooters provided by the Library, for use within the Library, you, the User understand, agree, represent, and acknowledge that:—

  1. I am familiar with Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters and their proper use.
  2. Use of Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters by anyone over300pounds may be dangerous.
  3. Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters may not be used on or near stairs or other dangerous or potentially dangerous access points.
  4. The Library makes no warranties or representations regarding the fitness of Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters for any purpose, and the Library provides no instruction on how to use Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters.
  5. I use Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters voluntarily and at my own risk, and I assume full and absolute responsibility for any and all personal injuries or property damage which I may suffer, or which may occur during or related to my use of Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters.
  6. I fully and for ever release and discharge the Library, its Trustees, Officers, Employees, or Agents, and I agree to indemnify and hold them harmless from any and all claims, causes of action, losses, attorneys’ fees, costs, or other damages resulting from, arising out of, or relating in any way to my use of Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters.
